Why Should I Clean My Outdoor Grill
Part 1 of series, part 2 “Why Hire A Professional Company”
We’ve all heard it, “you aren’t supposed to clean the grill, it adds flavor”. Newsflash, flavor comes from the type of wood, seasonings, marinades, cooking techniques, etc. A 3 month old grease bomb at the bottom of the grill isn’t going to add flavor - at least not the kind you want! So where did this myth of “adding flavor” come from? As we don’t know the exact origin, we can speculate that it comes from the fact that cleaning a grill is dirty, time consuming, and not always the funnest task. Instead of taking on that task, it’s a little easier to just say “eh, it adds flavor”. Trust us, in years past we were guilty as charged!
Let us ask you this, if you cooked in your oven without a pan or heated up food in your microwave without covering it, would you just leave all that leftover gunk to “add flavor”? Even worse, the outdoor grill isn’t in a climate controlled, protected environment; this makes that gunk more susceptible to developing mold and attracting unwanted visitors (and we’re not talking about your loud neighbor who’s 10 beers in 🙂🍻 ) The TRUTH is that gunk doesn’t add flavor and your grill should be treated just like any other appliance within your home, periodically it needs to be cleaned.
